The Doubletree Newark Hotel Review

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport

128 Frontage Rd, Newark, NJ, 07114, United States of America, 855-239-9478

I stayed here for 4 days and very much enjoyed my stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable, we felt very much at home. The staff was friendly and helpful, there was an issue with what type of room I booked and the girl at the front desk quickly fixed the problem. It had great food, great service, nice rooms. Free shuttle from and to the hotel was very convenient and it runs every 15 minutes. From the front desk, free warm cookie was very delicious

I will definitely be staying here again in a few months when in Jersey everything was fine about the hotel. I definitely got a great deal for the quality and amenities the hotel provides.

My only gripe is that they don’t disclose that you have to pay $16 for parking until you’re there. There is no security provided for the $16, It’s just to be able to park in the hotel’s parking lot. Either that or park in the street, which they don’t tell you that you can do that. They also charge $12 for WiFi, which I thought was a bit much. Other than that it was fine.Room were spacious. Atrium was well maintained.

The vending machine in every floor does not work for bottled water. When I put the money, every bottled water sold out. I told this to the front desk, a black man staff was very unfriendly and said to buy it from the restaurant in the hotel, and did not apoligize.

Given, there is a free shuttle to the Newark Airport, but the part they don’t tell you is that the train ride is $26 round-trip each time and it takes about an hour and a half(each way, totally 3 hrs for a single trip to NYC, so plan accordingly).Getting a taxi is like $100, and actually driving to the city runs about $60 in tolls, not to mention parking ($30-$50 depending where you part and for how long). Again, plan accordingly.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel locaion is next to Newark Liberty International Airport. And if you want to go to downtown Newark it will take you few minutes to reach there. Furthermore, this hotel is not far from New York City for it covers a distance of ten miles to reach there. Also if you’re planning on traveling, you’ll be offered with a shuttle that will be at your convenience.

The hotel has peaceful surroundings

The front part of Doubletree Newark hotel has spacious lawns with flowerbeds. Furthermore, this large tranquil hotel is in the business district of Newark. Also, the hotel is close to the airport, and thus it will take you few miles to reach there. Additionally, this hotel is close to Manhattan city in that you’ll just need to cover a distance of seventeen miles to get to the town of Manhattan.

The hotel has two dining places

Being a guest here at Doubletree Newark hotel you’ll have the privilege of enjoying heated indoor pool under ascending glass atrium. The hotel has a restaurant diner from where you can dine with your special someone. If you love movies or like listening to music, you’ll get all of these in this hotel. This is because the hotel has a sports bar with flat big screen television and jukebox and from here you can choose the movies or music you like.

The hotel has premium amenities

The Doubletree Newark hotel guestrooms feature thirty-seven-inch flat screen televisions. These TVs transmit premium channels and pay movies. The guestrooms also have premium beddings with large desks and lamps made of brass. Also, the chairs in these guestrooms are of ergonomic nature thus providing you with an extended working comfort. Crowne Plaza Newark Airport Review

review

My Crowne Plaza Newark Airport review hotel is very clean, the beds are very comfortable, there’s a fridge and free wifi. There’s a coffee shop open 24 hrs and even a restaurant in the building (which is a big deal around the EWR hotels, where it’s difficult to get around without driving somewhere).

Hotel was acceptable by upscale-hotel standards. Chair at the desk didn’t work right. Air-conditioning blows right at the desk — not comfortable when I was working. Free wi-fi didn’t work. $15 parking charge — not good. The hotel staff, while not exactly rude, aren’t particularly friendly or helpful. And they really don’t explain anything, which is problematic with the parking as at least two guests (me and the poor guy who got trapped trying to get out of the lot) were never told that you have to get your ticket stamped before the gate will open.

The shuttle from the airport doesn’t seem to run on time (to be fair, though, this seems to be a problem with most of the hotels around EWR — they just don’t have enough shuttles) so we waited a lot the three times we used it. So, all in all, probably not a hotel we’ll use again, despite being really clean and comfortable. I guess service trumps comfort.

Hotel was difficult to locate. Once there you find the restaurant has VERY limited selections, apparently is out of most condiments (according to our waiter) and the bar does not serve beer. They are no restaurants nearby so you either bring food with you or suffer in their inept restaurant with what the may or may not have available.

Crowne Plaza Newark Airport is located right off Spring Street in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Which is just 11 miles from the Statue of Liberty. Crowne Plaza Newark welcomes the weary traveler to rest in comfort and style . Besides a big cozy bed inviting anyone jet-lagged and just off a flight, each room will have an even more inviting 42 inch flat screen television.

Crowne Plaza Newark Airport’s small print

Optional extras

Self parking costs USD 15 per night with in/out privileges

Buffet breakfast is offered for an extra charge of USD 12 per person (approximately)

High-speed Internet access (wired) is available in public areas for USD 10 per night (rates may vary)

This airport caters to both business and pleasure. There is an on site chapel and reception are services available for the turtle doves ready to tie the knot New Jersey style. As well as private meeting space for those who are staying for work.

Talk about location. This hotel could be not closest to some of the best things that New York City has to offer. Just located about 15 miles away from the city. The Newark Museum is 5 miles away if you are a history buff.

The Newark Liberty International Airport, for those of with multiple business engagements, is just under a mile away. Near and far, there are plenty of strip malls to fulfill any shopper’s needs. Plus, with lady liberty only 11 miles away, if you have the time, she will be calling.

If you are getting married here in Newark, then perhaps you two darling lovebirds should take a trip to downtown New York City. Why you ask? To pick up so divine wedding bling at Tiffany’s of course!

After reviewing quite a few guest comments. There were a few things that guest seemed to be very contrite about. Many guest felt that the common areas, such as the pool area, the lounge, and the coffee bar were kept dirty and not properly maintained by hotel staff .

Which leads into another very common complaint by several guests, many felt that the hotel itself was very under-staffed during their visit.

Sadly, the highest number of guest were very unhappy about the front desk customer service, Many claimed that staff at the concierge desk were rude.
Pros and cons weighed, the Crowne Plaza Newark Airport seems to have an overall hotel score of 70% . Now, it may not be a 100% that is for sure. However, I imagine, for its price and location it beats sleeping on an airport floor I would stay there again

A little history about Newark NJ

Newark is the largest city in New Jersey, with over 275,000 thousand residents living in its five districts or wards. One of the oldest established towns or city in the United States, Newark is just 5 miles away from Manhattan and 2 miles from Staten Island.

Newark, NJ cityscape by night, viewed from Riverbank park. Jackson street bridge, illuminated, spans the Passaic River
Newark, NJ cityscape by night, viewed from Riverbank park. Jackson street bridge, illuminated, spans the Passaic River

Newark made its mark in history when one of the most destructive racial riots in the 60’s occurred in this city. During that time, this city was considered one of the worst cities to live in and had the worst percentages of substandard housing. Housing segregation and racial discrimination pushed African Americans to one of the country’s poorest ghettos.

This brought racial tension to a boil which exploded after an alleged police brutality case involving a cab driver, and resulted to four days of riots and mayhem. There were over 1000 injuries and 26 deaths, with over $10 million dollars lost in properties.

Hundreds of buildings and houses where burning everywhere, with even the firemen fearing for their lives. These created a severe requirement for a fire and water restoration Newark, NJ that went unresolved for years to come.

After the riots, particularly in the 70’s and the 80’s, the city slowly continued to deteriorate as fire and water restoration Newark, NJ services continued to remain unperformed. Semi-abandoned buildings indicate the massive exodus of locals hoping to find better living conditions elsewhere. Newark has an inherently subtropical climate with cold winters and humid summers.

Its close proximity to the ocean aggravates these conditions further, making it more conducive for mold and mildew to grow and infest these buildings. These resulted to further deterioration and decay for these buildings. What is needed is an expansive program for fire and water restoration in Newark, NJ counties and wards.

The mid-90’s proved to be a renaissance period for this New Jersey city as fire and water restoration Newark, NJ programs went into full gear. High-rise public housing projects that deteriorated in the 1970’s from fire and water damage were rebuilt and restored, as well as the building of new urban housing communities.

These buildings were slowly recovered through fire and water restoration and Newark, NJ slowly rose from the ashes and became a “livable” city once more.

By the year 2000, the impact of fire and water restoration Newark, NJ recovery programs slowly proved to be beneficial for the city as a whole as it led the whole state of New Jersey in private residential housing. An example is the 206 townhouses that were built in what was called New Community Hills and were located in a former public housing complex in the Central Ward.

This increase in residential housing signifies more people are starting to settle down and stay in the city. This was confirmed by the 2000 census that indicated a low 0.6% reduction rate since the 1990’s. This signaled the end of the New Jersey exodus, thanks to fire and water restoration Newark, NJ efforts.

From the ashes of the 1960’s and the 1970’s, Newark, NJ rose once again to be the center of transportation, manufacturing and education in New Jersey. With the efforts of its mayor, administration and people, Newark was recently awarded the Environmental Protection Administrator’s Award.

With the stigma of the 1967 riot receding into history, a fading memory that prompted a sad exodus of residents away from the city, Newark has gone a long way and has been designated a “most livable city” and an “all-America city.”

Holiday Inn Newark Airport Review My take on it

holiday inn newark airport Review

holiday inn newark airport review

People over time have been become very disrespectful of other people. There is a very high level of notice that people make coming in the hotels late at night and in the adjacent rooms.

Hotel owners should have a sign posted in there lobby in the hours of 10 PM and 8 PM for people to be as quiet as possible.

When I stay at a Hotel I am expecting it to be quiet a night. That is a part of what I am paying for but that is not Hotels fault .
Overall the Hotel was nice. Good location, close to Airport and NYC Room was clean, free shuttle to/from airport.

I didn’t have my luggage, therefore I didn’t have basic toiletries.

The front desk only offered me a tooth brush and the room was sparsely stocked (mouth wash, soap, shampoo and conditioner) but I made it work.

My Cons with Holiday Inn Newark

There is no microwave or fridge in the room.

The main road leading to the Hotel property was in very bad condition.

Restaurant is over priced and there is nothing else around to eat. We had two coffees, and one bagel, and the bill was over $14.00 dollars! A hamburger was $16.00!
Hotel is good, but the neighborhood doesn’t feel safe

This is my Marriot Newark airport review

marriot newark airport review

I got stuck overnight due to a cancelled flight, and was very happy to have a nice hotel so close to Newark airport. My flight got cancelled late, so the hotel’s convenience to the airport was perfect. The restaurant was very good for dinner, room was clean and modern, and the staff were all very friendly to this weary traveler. If I get stuck in Newark again I did not like the parking fee

Newark, NJ – A Revitalized City with Top Attractions and Entertainment

n the shadows of New York City, just five miles and a seventeen minute train ride away, Newark, New Jersey has plenty to offer visitors, or the New York City tourist who chooses to visit or stay nearby at less expensive restaurants, and hotels.

This is not a city to spend a considerable amount of time in, but it’s an excellent destination for a day trip or weekend getaway, or even for the budget conscious tourist looking for a place to stay when visiting NYC.

One of the nation’s oldest cities, after Boston and New York, Newark was a thriving 19th-century industrial giant and at the turn of the century made huge investments in cathedrals, museums, parks, a major art deco train station, and other art deco architecture, that today stand as world class attractions.

Newark also has a good Subway system. The system is a subway-surface light rail line which runs underground downtown and above-ground in outlying areas. The line is 5.3 miles long and runs between Newark Penn Station and Grove Street in Bloomfield.

After World War II, similar to other urban U.S. cities where loss of manufacturing jobs and urban decay began to occur, Newark experienced similar decline that continued until it reached bottom with 1960s riots. Since then the city has been slowly climbing back.

While its churches, museums, schools and public buildings are certainly to be admired, they also are off the tax rolls and with brings an unusually high burden of tax exemption that has held back the pace Newark’s revitalization programs.

Since the sixties, the city has made great strides forward with a major drop in street crime, a downtown that can be walked around, and the development of major downtown entertainment venues and hotels that bring to Newark an arena, a professional NHL Hockey team, a 6,200 seat minor league baseball stadium and a performing arts center with a concert hall and theatre that attracts the world’s best performers. Coincident with the development of entertainment venues, office skyscrapers have risen as homes to corporate employers and jobs. These are all attractions that can be easily accessible by public transportation or car with plenty of safe, affordable downtown parking. The hub of rail transportation is the restored Penn Station, an art deco landmark, used by over 70,000 commuters per day.

Major Attractions Cherry Blossom Festival The second largest Cherry Blossom display in the Unites States with the National Cherry Blossom display in Washington, DC being the largest and usually occurs about two weeks earlier. Held in Branch Brook Park, there are over 2,700 cherry trees. The blossoms can be best enjoyed by a casual walk or picnic in the park. The cherry trees usually flower in the second and third weeks of April. This is a week long festival with many events including a 10K race, trolley bus tours, and family Day with Japanese cultural activities, including demonstrations on origami, bonsai, ikebana, and martial arts.
